Information For Readers

Discover and Access Scholarly Research

IGI Publishing provides access to peer-reviewed scholarly research published through our journals.

Our goal is to make research discoverable, accessible, and useful to researchers, academics, students, professionals, and other members of the scholarly community worldwide.

Discover Research

Readers can explore published research through:

  • Journal homepages;
  • Article pages;
  • Journal issues and archives;
  • Subject and keyword searches;
  • Author information;
  • Article abstracts;
  • References and related content; and
  • DOI-based article identification.

We encourage readers to explore the full article record when evaluating research, including the abstract, methodology, results, references, publication information, and any available supplementary materials.

Read and Access Articles

Where an article is published under an open access license, the article may be freely accessed online subject to the applicable license terms.

Readers may be able to:

  • Read the full article online;
  • Download the article in an available format;
  • Share the article in accordance with its license;
  • Cite the published work;
  • Use permitted portions of the work with appropriate attribution; and
  • Follow DOI links to the permanent article record.

Access conditions may vary depending on the article, journal, license, and applicable publication terms.

Understanding Open Access

Open access allows scholarly articles to be made available to readers without requiring a subscription or individual payment for access to the published article.

Open access publication may be supported through Article Processing Charges, institutional arrangements, research funding, waivers, or other funding mechanisms.

Authors and readers should review the specific license displayed on each article before reusing or redistributing published content.

Citing Articles

Readers should use the citation information provided on the article page whenever possible.

A complete citation may include:

  • Author name(s);
  • Article title;
  • Journal title;
  • Publication year;
  • Volume and issue;
  • Page or article number, where applicable;
  • DOI; and
  • Publisher information.

Using the DOI and the official article page helps readers and researchers locate the authoritative published version.

Research Discovery and Visibility

Published articles may be discoverable through search engines, scholarly databases, indexing services, institutional repositories, reference-management tools, and other research discovery systems, subject to the relevant service's inclusion and indexing policies.

IGI Publishing works to provide structured article metadata and persistent identifiers to support discoverability and citation.

Readers should always verify indexing or database coverage directly with the relevant service.

Responsible Use of Published Research

Published research should be evaluated in the context of its methodology, evidence, limitations, and conclusions.

Readers should:

  • Review the complete article where possible;
  • Consider the methodology and evidence;
  • Review relevant disclosures and conflicts of interest;
  • Check corrections or retractions where applicable; and
  • Cite original sources appropriately.

Publication does not imply that every conclusion presented in an article is endorsed by IGI Publishing.

Authors are responsible for the content and conclusions of their published work.

Corrections and Retractions

Maintaining an accurate scholarly record is important to IGI Publishing.

If a published article is found to contain a significant error, publication-related correction procedures may be initiated.

Where serious concerns affect the reliability or integrity of published research, an article may be subject to an expression of concern or retraction in accordance with applicable publication ethics policies.

Readers who identify a potential issue with a published article are encouraged to contact the relevant journal or publishing office.

Sharing Published Research

Readers may share published articles in accordance with the copyright and licensing terms displayed on the article page.

For open access articles, permitted reuse will depend on the applicable Creative Commons or other license.

When sharing or reusing research, readers should:

  • Credit the original authors;
  • Cite the original publication;
  • Provide a link to the official article where appropriate; and
  • Respect any restrictions contained in the applicable license.

Supporting Scholarly Communication

Researchers, students, educators, librarians, and professionals can contribute to the scholarly community by:

  • Citing relevant research accurately;
  • Sharing legitimate published research;
  • Reporting errors or concerns;
  • Supporting responsible research practices; and
  • Following applicable copyright and licensing requirements.
