The Publishing Process
Our standard publication workflow includes the following stages:
1. Choose the Right Journal
Authors should review the aims and scope of each journal before submitting a manuscript.
Please ensure that your manuscript is relevant to the journal's subject area and meets the journal's submission requirements.
2. Prepare Your Manuscript
Before submission, authors should ensure that their manuscript:
- Presents original scholarly work;
- Meets the journal's formatting requirements;
- Includes complete author and affiliation information;
- Contains appropriate references and citations;
- Includes required figures, tables, and supplementary materials;
- Meets applicable research ethics requirements; and
- Complies with the journal's authorship and disclosure policies.
Authors should also ensure that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the submitted manuscript.
3. Submit Your Manuscript
Manuscripts should be submitted through the journal's designated submission system or according to the submission instructions provided by the journal.
Authors should provide accurate contact information and disclose any relevant conflicts of interest, funding information, ethical approvals, or other required declarations.
4. Editorial Screening
Following submission, the manuscript may undergo an initial editorial assessment.
The editorial team may assess:
- Relevance to the journal's scope;
- Basic scholarly quality;
- Originality and suitability;
- Research ethics and integrity;
- Plagiarism or substantial text overlap;
- Completeness of the submission; and
- Compliance with journal requirements.
Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's basic requirements may be returned to the authors or declined before external peer review.
5. Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass initial editorial assessment may be sent for independent peer review.
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts according to the journal's standards and may consider:
- Scientific or scholarly significance;
- Originality;
- Methodological rigor;
- Quality of analysis;
- Clarity of presentation;
- Appropriate use of references;
- Validity of conclusions; and
- Overall contribution to the field.
Authors may be asked to revise their manuscript in response to reviewer comments.
6. Editorial Decision
Following editorial assessment and peer review, the journal may issue a decision such as:
- Accept;
- Minor revision;
- Major revision; or
- Reject.
Editorial decisions are based on the scholarly merits of the manuscript and are independent of the author's ability to pay publication charges.
7. Article Processing Charge
For applicable open access journals, an Article Processing Charge (APC) is payable only after acceptance.
The current standard APC is:
USD 2,500 per accepted article
There is no submission fee or peer-review fee.
Authors may review our APC & Publishing Policies for information regarding publication charges, refunds, and waiver opportunities.
8. Production and Publication
After acceptance and completion of the applicable publishing requirements, the manuscript enters production.
Production may include:
- Copyediting;
- Formatting;
- Typesetting;
- Reference and metadata checks;
- Preparation of the final article;
- DOI registration;
- Author proof review; and
- Online publication.
Authors may be contacted during production to confirm corrections or provide missing information.
9. Post-Publication
After publication, authors can help increase the visibility of their research by:
- Adding the article to their ORCID profile;
- Sharing the published article through appropriate academic networks;
- Including the article in institutional or subject repositories where permitted;
- Sharing the article with colleagues and research collaborators;
- Referencing the published article in subsequent research; and
- Monitoring citations and other indicators of research use.
Authors should always use the official published version and follow the applicable copyright and licensing terms when sharing their work.
Author Responsibilities
Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts:
- Are original and have not been improperly copied;
- Are not simultaneously submitted to multiple journals where prohibited;
- Accurately report research findings;
- Properly acknowledge sources and contributors;
- Meet applicable ethical requirements;
- Include appropriate authorship information;
- Disclose relevant conflicts of interest;
- Identify funding sources where applicable;
